Leading towards the future with Advanced Air Mobility:
A word from our CEO Paolo La Cava

The aviation industry is on the brink of a transformative era with the advent of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM). This shift is marked by innovative aircraft and the emergence of a new sector within the industry. As AAM expands rapidly, there will be a substantial demand for skilled pilots to operate electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft, which are set to revolutionize urban mobility, air cargo, emergency response, and more. With eVTOLs interacting closely with urban environments, maintaining high safety standards will be crucial for regulatory approval and public acceptance.

As the certification process for these aircraft concludes and air operations begin, the need for a new generation of highly trained pilots will become even more pronounced. Pilots will perform tasks similar to current commercial pilots but will face unique challenges such as short mission cycles, urban takeoffs and landings, and navigating congested airspace. Addressing these challenges requires specialized training, emphasizing quick transitions, urban operations, and emergency procedures. Advanced simulation-based training tools will be vital for preparing pilots for these complex tasks.

Etihad Aviation Training (EAT) is enthusiastic about embracing this new era by partnering with Archer Aviation, a leader in eVTOL aircraft, reflecting its commitment to advancing and supporting the future of air mobility. This partnership represents a significant step toward realizing the exciting potential of AAM, which promises to enhance connectivity, reduce congestion, and contribute to a more efficient and sustainable transportation ecosystem.

Etihad Aviation Training (EAT) has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Volar Air Mobility a pioneer in carbon-neutral air mobility! This MoU is designed to enhance our collaboration, blend our expertise, and leverage our combined strengths in the field of advanced electric aircraft operations. Together, we aim to drive innovation and support the development of sustainable aviation. We are aiming to set new standards for pilot training and supporting the industry in the establishment of a robust advanced air mobility network. Our joint efforts will also help drive the UAE’s ambitious sustainability goals. Together with Volar, we’ll focus on developing training programs, analyzing data and partnering with the aviation authorities to enable the safe and efficient operations of the electric aviation sector. Our shared vision is to pave the way for a sustainable and transformative future

in air travel.

These partnerships open new opportunities to establish a thriving urban air mobility network in Abu Dhabi and the rest of the UAE. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting journey as EAT continues to work to bring this innovative vision to life.
